Old Lady gave me a fright!

Good mixture last night including a whopper of an Old Lady above:
Clay below:
I was thinking this is a Svensson's Copper Underwing due to lack of definition in lower bar?
Not sure on the plume, 1 pic then flew off sharpish!:
and one for Ben please?

  1. As an expert on plumes (not!! I was even looking at Swedish moth sites last night to try and sort mine out) I think yours is common plume Rob but difficult from pic.

  2. Not one I've ever seen but bottom micro is Ypsolopha scabrella.
I had firs Black Arches of year last night, Autumn must be just around the corner!

  3. Ypsolopha scabrella would only be third record for VC49.

  4. Great thanks John. Looks good - 3 spikes along the back noticeable as in pic on UKM.
